Global Media Alliance and Japan Motors earlier today, made a heartwarming donation of 45 white canes to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU).

This donation forms part of the commitment of both brands to support the Ghana Blind Union (GBU), and its members with proceeds from the annual Global Media Alliance and Japan Motors Corporate Run and Walk.

The annual Global Media Alliance and Japan Motors Corporate Run and Walk is an annual 5km walk and run organized by the brands mentioned above to promote healthy living, bonding amongst corporate Ghana and most especially donate portions of the proceeds generated from the run to the Ghana Blind Union.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Media Alliance, Ernest Boateng expressed profound excitement with regards to the initiative. Mr. Boateng highlighted a profound quality of the company which is highly known as not only giving opportunities to all without discrimination. “As members of Run Ghana, we’ve always been supporting the Ghana Blind Union and we are very happy to have this relationship. We happen to be the first company in Africa to introduce a blind news reader, Paul Anomah-Kordieh and he is still with us. Kalmoni and my team are very passionate about running and we want to extend the fun and privilege to people with disabilities like the blind and many others.” he said.

Executive Director of Lakeside Estate, Salah Kwaku Kalmoni was elated about the initiative, stating the joy he feels in supporting GBU. He indicated that the canes worth Ghc10,000 was a show of solidarity to GBU, with the relationship between the two brands growing annually.
As a sponsor of the Corporate Run, Mr. Kalmoni affirmed that GBU will always be dear to Japan Motors and Global Media Alliance.

Director of the Ghana Blind Union, Dr. Peter Obeng-Asamoah, speaking on behalf of GBU expressed gratitude to Global Media Alliance and Japan Motors for the mindful gesture.

He explained that the white canes play an integral role in day-to-day activities of visually impaired people, making the donation a timely and efficient one. “I can tell you that with this donation of white canes, you have gone beyond mobility. If you care to know, the white cane is what touches the lives of blind persons directly. A lot of blind people use these whites canes to go to many places that a lot of people take for granted; it’s used at places besides the house, it’s taken to church, it’s used to cross the road, to work to school, it is a crucial part of our lives.”

Global Media Alliance along with Japan Motors organizes Corporate Run every year on 21st September to celebrate Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
