The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, has criticized the current government for its handling of the economy and called on Ghanaians to consider the solutions proposed by NDC Presidential candidate John Mahama.

He emphasized that Mahama has a clear plan to create jobs, promising to reduce taxes, lower electricity tariffs, and enhance security to encourage businesses to hire young people.

He expressed frustration over what he described as “lazy” revenue-raising strategies employed by the government, highlighting the introduction of various taxes, including betting and COVID-19 taxes. He argued that these measures have burdened Ghanaians instead of fostering economic growth.

Additionally, he pointed to Mahama’s past initiatives aimed at equipping the youth with skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which he believes were undermined by the current administration. Basintale claimed that had Mahama won the 2016 elections, Ghana would have seen a significant increase in the number of trained coders through the establishment of ICT centers.

He noted that Mahama established the Accra Digital Center that was aimed at training and equipping the youth with ICT skills.
