The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has emphasized the need for Ghana to prioritize transformational leadership over sentimental politics to address the challenges facing the nation.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Matthew Opoku Prempeh Hostel at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, on Tuesday, November 19, he stressed that the country requires leaders who inspire trust and demonstrate a practical approach to improving the lives of citizens.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted the importance of tackling pressing issues affecting ordinary Ghanaians, particularly the youth. He noted that the country faces a critical challenge with thousands of students completing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) annually, yet lacking opportunities for further development. He observed that the BECE certificate, while significant, does not qualify holders for employment, leaving many young individuals excluded from the country’s economic systems.

Describing this situation as transformative work yet to be done, he called for urgent action to ensure the education system equips students with the skills needed for the job market. Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the focus should be on practical solutions that address the day-to-day realities of Ghanaians, rather than mere rhetoric or promises.

He reiterated the NPP’s commitment to transformational policies that prioritize human development and create avenues for all citizens to contribute meaningfully to national progress. The unveiling of the hostel, named in his honor, symbolizes his dedication to education and youth empowerment as pivotal tools for sustainable development.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh urged stakeholders to move beyond superficial considerations and focus on electing leaders capable of delivering tangible results that positively impact lives.
