President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned a US$100 million state-of-the-art oil and gas services terminal at the Takoradi Port. The facility aims to establish a world-class shore-based logistics platform, featuring Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) berthing facilities and a serviced waterfront to support offshore oil and gas exploration and production operations.

The terminal forms part of the strategic development of the Port of Takoradi to position it as a key Petroleum Hub, accommodating oil and gas service providers, fabrication companies, exploration firms, and their suppliers for supply based activities.

The facility boasts a quay wall spanning 550 meters, a dredged draft of 10 meters, and a serviced land area of 200,000 square meters for oilfield operators, logistics providers, offices, workshops, and storage facilities. Additionally, it includes a 1.9-kilometer access road with storm drainage and utility service ducts.

Speaking at the commissioning, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the significance of the project, describing it as a bold step toward positioning Ghana as a leading oil and gas hub.

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Michael Luguje emphasized that the terminal will diversify the operations of the Takoradi Port from an export-focused facility to a more integrated hub. He encouraged stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to maximize the opportunities offered by the new facility.

This development marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s oil and gas sector and reinforces Takoradi Port’s role in advancing the country’s economic growth.

The Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah lauded the President’s vision in transforming the Takoradi Port into a modern facility capable creating jobs in the Western Region.
