The People’s National Party (PNP) has condemned recent acts of violence allegedly carried out by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against state institutions, including the Passport Office, District Assemblies, and other government establishments.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 11, by its Chairperson and Leader, Janet Asana Nabla, the PNP described these actions as a threat to Ghana’s democracy and the rule of law. The party criticized the alleged attacks as an attempt by the NDC to prematurely assume control of state institutions, disregarding the orderly transition process critical to democratic governance.

PNP likened these acts to tyranny and chaos, cautioning that such actions could destabilize the nation and undermine the independence of key state institutions, which are essential pillars of democracy.

Additionally, PNP urged security agencies to act swiftly by arresting those responsible for these alleged crimes. The party emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the law to deter future incidents of political violence and uphold the country’s democratic principles.

PNP also appealed to the international community, civil society organizations, academia, religious bodies, and the media to join in condemning the reported attacks. The party warned that silence on such issues risks normalizing violence as a tool for political engagement, posing grave danger to Ghana’s democratic values.

PNP called on all stakeholders to protect the sanctity of state institutions and uphold the democratic values that unite the nation.
