The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of providing false information to the Ghana Police Service regarding an agreement by all political parties to re-collate and re-declare parliamentary election results of contested constituencies.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the NDC’s headquarters, Asiedu Nketia described the EC’s decision to re-collate some constituency results as a clear violation of Ghana’s electoral laws. He called on the Ghana Police Service not to support such actions.

In a shocking revelation, he stated that the EC had misled the police into believing that all political parties had agreed to establish a re-collation center at the Police Training School in Tesano. “Now, checking from the Police, we were told that the Electoral Commission informed or misinformed the Police that the political parties have come together through consensus to establish a re-collation center at the Police Training Depot and bring all areas under contention for these areas to be re-collated,” Asiedu Nketia said.

The NDC has since sought an injunction to halt the re-collation exercise, demanding its immediate suspension.
