The outgoing MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has expressed confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ability to reclaim the constituency’s parliamentary seat if effective strategies are implemented.

Speaking to the media after the parliament’s resumption following a lengthy break, she acknowledged the significant influence of her father’s Kristo Asafo Church in helping the party retain the seat in the past. She emphasized the need for the NPP to evaluate the church’s role and its impact on the constituency’s political landscape moving forward.

Adwoa Safo also addressed criticisms about her absence from the constituency’s campaign during the recent elections, explaining that her focus was on supporting the party’s national campaign after losing the primary. She dismissed criticisms as baseless, stating that she had done everything within her capacity to support the NPP candidate in Dome Kwabenya, even though the efforts did not yield the desired results.

The NPP’s Mike Oquaye Jnr. lost the seat to Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), prompting discussions about the reasons behind the party’s defeat. Adwoa Safo has therefore called on the NPP to carefully assess the factors that contributed to the loss and find ways to address them effectively. Despite facing scrutiny and accusations of neglecting her duties, she reaffirmed her dedication to the party and its future success in the constituency.
