A Kumasi High Court has granted bail to 14 individuals who were arrested in connection with violent disturbances during the December 7 elections in Damongo, Savannah Region.

The suspects, who were initially remanded in custody, were released on bail of GH₵20,000 each with two sureties. This decision followed legal arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.

The two minors among the accused had been granted bail earlier on condition that their sureties ensure their attendance in court.

The Prosecutor argued for an extension of the suspects’ custody to allow for further investigations. However, council for the defense, Evans Amankwaah contended that the continued detention violated their rights, emphasizing that the accused were arrested at separate locations rather than at the crime scene.
