The Ghana Alternative Party (GAP) has issued an open invitation to disgruntled members of other political parties, movements, and coalitions, urging them to join the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

The call comes in the wake of the expulsion of 280 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Agona West constituency, a decision that GAP has expressed displeasure over.

In a statement released on Monday, December 23, Founder and Leader of GAP, Osahene Nana Agyei Boateng expressed disappointment with the harsh expulsion of the NPP members.

The statement also extended a warm congratulations to John Dramani Mahama, President-elect of Ghana, following his decisive victory in the 2024 general elections. GAP welcomed the incoming administration and expressed optimism for the future, while emphasizing its readiness to support the government in certain areas, particularly through its “24-hour economy” initiative.

GAP also commended the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for launching the “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL), a campaign aimed at recovering state assets that were reportedly misappropriated during previous administrations. GAP urged the NDC to accelerate the implementation of this initiative in order to restore public trust in government institutions.

As part of its roadmap for the 2028 elections, GAP made it clear that it would continue to provide constructive criticism of the government where necessary. However, the party also emphasized its commitment to supporting positive policies, especially those that align with its vision for national development.

In light of the growing tensions surrounding the re-collation of parliamentary results, GAP called on leadership of the NPP and NDC to adhere strictly to the rule of law to resolve any disputes. The party also paid tribute to Ghanaians including security officers, electoral officials, political vigilantes, and civilians who suffered brutalities or lost their lives during the recent elections.
