Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has assured referees that arrears owed them will be paid.

According to Henry Asante Twum, it is hard to be working without being paid promptly but they are working around the clock to settle the debts.

He said it is not a big deal that they owe referees, citing the fact that the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also owe officiating officials.

“It is normal that we owe referees. CAF, WAFU, and FIFA all owe referees at times, but the current situation is not the same as it was previously.

“We agreed to pay them after every five weeks, and as we speak, the GPL referees have received week 1 to 5 allowances. The rest of the weeks will be paid very soon,” he said.
