Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, has called for accountability in leadership, stating that people should be held accountable for their actions and those who do the right things should be recognized for their efforts.

Speaking at the 43rd anniversary of the 31st December Revolution, she emphasized the need for leadership with integrity, urging both leaders and citizens to uphold the values of responsibility and fairness.

She said a system where leaders and citizens are held accountable will eliminate the culture of impunity that has taken root in the country. She stressed that it was time to celebrate those who make positive contributions to society and to publicly shame those who misuse their positions for personal gain, exploiting the nation’s resources at the expense of the people.

She warned that the resources of the nation are not meant for one family, ethnic group, or political party but for all Ghanaians. She reminded the audience that the mandate given by the people is sacred and must be treated with the utmost respect, caution, and responsibility.

Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings acknowledged that the nation stands at a critical crossroads pointing to the growing political unrest and the threat of democracy, urging that the path ahead must be one of righteousness and integrity to ensure a sustainable and just future for all Ghanaians. This vision, she affirmed, is what the National Democratic Congress (NDC) represents and what the people of Ghana expect from their leadership.

She called on members, sympathizers, and executives of the NDC to serve as the conscience of the nation over the next four years. She urged them to hold the government and their representatives accountable, ensuring that they remain committed to the ideals of integrity and service to the people of Ghana as the party prepares to assume office on January 7.
