The Member of Parliament for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, has thrown his weight behind Alban Bagbin for the Speaker of Parliament role in the upcoming 9th Parliament.
Speaking in Parliament ahead of the Finance Minister’s presentation of the mini-budget, Ahmed Ibrahim underscored the need for a speaker with the experience and courage to make critical decisions in the interest of the nation.
He emphasized the importance of having a statesman who can challenge the status quo and hold the executive accountable when necessary.
He highlighted Alban Bagbin’s extensive track record in parliamentary leadership, having served as a minority leader, majority leader, deputy speaker, and speaker in previous capacities. He asserted that Bagbin’s institutional knowledge and expertise make him uniquely qualified to lead Parliament effectively.
