Samuel Anim Addo, President of Young Apostles FC, has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following controversial comments he made on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The charges, based on Articles 34(6)(d) and 38(8)(c) of the GFA Ghana Premier League Regulations, relate to Anim Addo’s remarks about officiating during a recent Ghana Premier League match between Accra Lions and Dreams FC.

In his post, Anim Addo accused referee Maxwell Hanson of being involved in “dirty work” and alleged that the GFA was complicit in silencing concerns about officiating standards. He claimed the Association suppressed his attempts to expose instances of poor officiating.

The GFA argued that these comments tarnished the reputation of both the Association and the Ghana Premier League, leading to the charges against Anim Addo.

As a former member of the GFA Executive Committee, Anim Addo is expected to formally respond to the charges by Monday, January 13, 2025.
