Security Analyst at the African Center for Security and Intelligence, Paul Boateng, has applauded President Mahama’s recent appointments to the National Security Council.

According to him, all appointees are very competent and can be trusted to handle the country’s security matters.

Speaking to Bismark Brown on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show he said, “One thing that any president looks out for before choosing people for such a position is the level of loyalty and if you look at someone like Prosper Bani, he is the president’s friend and he knows him very well”.

“Prosper Bani was the former chief of staff and an interior minister so the president has known him for long. Kofi Boakye and Osman are also friends with the president and they understand the job so, Mahama can have meaningful discussions with them about the country’s security. He has done a great job choosing them” he emphasized.

Paul noted that once the president has confidence and believes in them, they will do a good job.

Comparing this appointment to that of the previous government, he described this as better.

However he advised the appointees not to implement the regime security concept.

“As they come they shouldn’t come and work for the regime and the leadership of the state because mostly when such appointments are made, the appointee’s don’t do what is expected of them rather they protect themselves and party members but they should put the country first and work hard to protect the citizens of the country” he said.
