In a shocking and disturbing discovery , the Kwame Nkrumah Circle interchange , in the heart of Ghana’s capital city, Accra, has been reduced to a refuse dumping site.

This alarming situation has left Happy FM’s radio personality and host of the socio-political show “Epa Hoa Daben” Bismark Brown, in a state of distress and outrage.

Bismark Brown, renowned radio personality, shared his firsthand experience of witnessing the interchange being used as a dumping ground for trash. “I was on my way to work when I saw the shocking state of the Kwame Nkrumah interchange. It’s unbelievable that in this day and age, a major interchange in the capital city of Ghana has been reduced to a refuse dump,” Bismark Brown exclaimed.

According to Bismark Brown, assembly workers from the Korley Klottey constituency, who are responsible for maintaining the area, revealed that this is a daily occurrence. “The workers told me that they face this ordeal every day, with people dumping trash at the interchange without any regard for the environment or the community,” Bismark Brown said.

The situation is even more appalling considering the interchange’s nickname, “Circle Dubai,” which reflects its reputation as a state of the art infrastructure in the heart of Accra. However, the current state of the interchange is a far cry from its former glory.

While the refuse was eventually gathered and taken away, Bismark Brown expressed concern that the problem will persist unless drastic measures are taken. “It’s unfortunate that some Ghanaians will continue to commit this offense, despite the efforts of assembly workers to keep the area clean.”

The Kwame Nkrumah Interchange is a 3-tier interchange which was constructed to replace the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in 2016.The interchange is named in honour of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah.

The cost of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange project as approved by Parliament and expended by the contractor was $90 million at the time.
