The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has urged the public to disregard fraudulent social media posts falsely suggesting the sale of lost or forgotten baggage at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

According to a statement by GACL, the post circulating on social media is completely false, orchestrated to misinform and dupe unsuspecting public and should be disregarded.

“Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) would like to emphatically reiterate that the post is completely false, orchestrated to misinform and dupe the unsuspecting public, and should thus, be disregarded”.

“In October 2024, our attention was drawn to a post circulating on social media, specifically Facebook, on an alleged sale of “lost or forgotten bags” at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). A disclaimer dated 23″ October 2024 was issued to prevent the public from being defrauded”.

“We have recently become aware of fresh attempts by these faceless individuals, once again using Facebook, to deceive the unsuspecting public into paying a specific amount of money”.

The Ghana Airport Company Limited cautioned the public to solely rely on its official and verified social media platforms for information.

“For the record, GACL has verified social media pages through which information is disseminated to the public, and at no point has that responsibility been delegated to a third party”.

GACL says it dissociates itself from the post while reiterating its commitment to protecting and safeguarding the interest of all.
