President John Mahama has urged African Union member states to prioritize appointing more women and youth to leadership roles at all levels of governance.

With over 60% of Africa’s population under the age of 25, President Mahama highlighted the urgent need for their voices to be included in policy-making processes.

‘’Africa’s future lies in its youth over 60 percent of our population is under the Age of 25 and yet their voices are largely absent in policy making’’.

President Mahama lamented the lack of youth and women representation in governance adding that African Leaders must work on a framework to empower the youth in governance.

“We must institutionalize frameworks that empower our young people and women to lead at all levels of governance”.

President Mahama emphasized that integrating these groups into governance would not only democratize leadership but also ensure innovative and forward-thinking policies that resonate with the needs of the majority population.
