Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Samuel Nartey George, the ministerial nominees for Foreign Affairs and Communications, respectively, to submit all documents they promised to provide to the Appointments Committee as evidence for their claims during their vetting.

He stated that until those documents are submitted, their approval will be decided through a secret ballot.

According to him, their reports will not be finalized until they both submit all the necessary documents.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, February 4, Afenyo-Markin said

“Mr. Speaker, I beg to say that until all the information that the nominee himself has committed to provide are provided, we cannot finalise the report”.

“We will take Ablakwa, Sam George through secret voting. Those documents they promised to bring to us must be made available” he emphasized.

He however stated that, Abdul Rashid Alhassan and Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed can be approved as they had no issues with them during the vetting process.

“If our respected colleagues bring the outstanding documents and these documents are satisfactory we have no hesitation changing our position and we’ve done this in the case of Hon. Emmanuel Amarh Kofi Boah” he added.

He highlighted that he is doing all this due to the respect he has for his colleagues and pleaded for the right thing to be done.
