Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Lawyer John Darko, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the completion of the Suame Interchange using funds secured by the previous administration.

In an interview with a Kumasi-based TV station on Monday, February 10, 2025, Lawyer Darko emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had negotiated a $2 billion deal with one Amin Anta before leaving office. He insisted that a portion of these funds should be allocated to the interchange project, which is crucial for reducing traffic congestion and boosting economic activity in the Ashanti Region.

“Before leaving office, we (NPP) negotiated a deal worth over $2 billion with Amin Anta to fund various government projects. Therefore, we expect President John Mahama to allocate part of these funds to complete the Suame Interchange. Fortunately, the economy had begun recovering before we left office, so there should be no financial constraints for the project. The government must prioritize its completion,” he stated.

He further noted that the funds secured by the NPP government were intended for key infrastructure projects nationwide and urged the current administration to fulfill its responsibility by ensuring the interchange is completed without further delays.
