The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has taken a significant step towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the Minister Samuel Nartey George (MP), in a meeting with the Vice President of Heritors Labs, Kofi Ocloo, along with consultants from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) discussed the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill.

The statement indicated that, this initiative is aimed at promoting innovation and supporting startups across the nation.

“During the meeting, Mr. Ocloo presented evidence reports that provided valuable insights into the current landscape of innovation in Ghana. These reports will serve as the foundation for the ongoing development of the bill”, the statement added.

The statement further mentioned that, the Ministry agreed on a structured three-step review process for the bill, which involves gathering feedback from committee, zonal, and national levels.

This, according to the ministry will ensure input from essential stakeholders before the final draft is submitted to Parliament.

The sector Minister, Samuel Nartey George expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Heritors Labs and the consultants to finalize the bill.

He emphasized the importance of this initiative in driving economic growth and supporting emerging entrepreneurs.

“The goal is to activate the review process by May 2025, ensuring that the bill is presented to Parliament before the upcoming recess”.

The key highlights of the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill include fostering innovation, a three-step review process, stakeholder validation, and a clear timeline for implementation.
