The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has filed a lawsuit against the Government of Ghana, challenging what he describes as the unlawful termination of employment contracts for several individuals.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Nana Boakye revealed that his legal action targets the directive issued by President John Dramani Mahama, through the Chief of Staff, which ordered heads of government institutions to revoke appointments and recruitments made within the Public Services of Ghana.

According to Nana Boakye, this directive, issued on February 10, 2025, lacks constitutional backing, as the President does not have the authority to unilaterally order such dismissals. He further noted that following the directive, several public institutions have complied, resulting in widespread job losses.

Nana Boakye’s lawsuit seeks to challenge the legality of these terminations and protect the rights of affected employees who were hired both before and after December 7, 2025. The case is expected to spark significant debate over the powers of the executive in employment matters within public institutions.
