The Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, Dr. Ishmael Yamson has sounded the alarm about the growing disillusionment among Ghana’s youth, many of whom are losing faith in the country, expressing a desire to relocate abroad.

Dr. Yamson shared these concerns during the National Economic Dialogue on Monday, March 4, 2025.

The National Economic Dialogue serves as a forum for detailed discussions on vital economic issues, chaired by Dr. Yamson with other prominent figures such as Dr. K.Y. Amoako, Professor John Gatsi, Mohammed Samara, Nelly Mireku, Anthony Sarpong, and Ernest De-Graft Egyir.

During his speech, Dr. Yamson drew attention to a troubling trend, a sense of frustration and loss of confidence among the youth, who feel abandoned by their leaders and disillusioned with the state of the nation.

He described the emergence of a “Generation Hustlers,” referring to young Ghanaians who have lost faith, respect, and confidence in both their political leaders and the country.
