The Ghana Police Service has announced temporary road closures in Accra on Thursday, March 6, 2025, as part of the security arrangements for the 68th Independence Anniversary Celebration at the Jubilee House.

According to a statement by the service, key roads including Liberation Road at Opeabia Intersection, 37 Intersection towards the Central Business District, Independence Avenue at Ako-Adjei Bypass, Jawaharlal Nehru Road at Switchback Road, and Presidential Drive around the Jubilee House will be affected.

Motorists on Liberation Road from the Airport towards Accra will be diverted onto Alliance Francaise Road or the Airport Bypass, while those on Independence Avenue from Accra will be diverted at Ako-Adjei Interchange onto the Ring Road Central.

The statement further indicates that, motorists from Club 10 and Kanda Post Office will be diverted at Kanda Link onto Sunyani and Kade Avenue.

“No vehicle will be allowed to park at unauthorized places or drive through these road blockades”.

The Ghana Police Service also mentioned that, security vehicles and those carrying dignitaries will be permitted after thorough checks, and traffic police officers will be present to direct motorists to appropriate car parks and diverted roads.

The Statement also assured that towing cars will be available to tow any abandoned, disabled, or wrongly parked vehicles at the event grounds.

They advised motorists to plan alternative routes before embarking on their journeys to avoid inconvenience.

The general public, especially motorists, are urged to cooperate with the Police to ensure effective traffic control and management before, during, and after the program.

“We seek the cooperation of everyone to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event,” the Police added.
