The Ashanti Regional National Sports Authority (NSA) has criticized the Club Licensing Board’s decision to ban the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting league matches due to security concerns.

The Public Relations Officer, Patience Sharon Adams Mensah, argued that the NSA should have been included in the decision-making process and given sufficient time to address the concerns.

She stated that, “Right from day one, if they had included us in the decision making. we wouldn’t even come to where we are now for the public to even hear this”.

Mensah emphasized that the Baba Yara Stadium is in better condition than several approved venues and highlighted that security has always been reinforced during league games.

Despite acknowledging concerns about the mixed zone area, she assured that adjustments had been made.

“Looking at the size of the mixed zone area, to manage the two teams will be difficult… But this time around they don’t want the spectators to even come near the players”.

Mensah called for the involvement of higher authorities to address any legal or financial challenges associated with the improvements needed at the stadium.

“I think there are deliberations going on so I am hearing that on Sunday Kotoko will play their match while we still consider this proposal”.
