The newly inaugurated Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs has been widely lauded for its potential to resolve longstanding disputes and foster national unity in Ghana.

At its first meeting in Accra, the committee pledged to work closely with religious and traditional groups to promote peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians.

The Chairman, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency, emphasized the committee’s critical role in Ghana’s social and economic development.

“Since independence, culture, religion, and chieftaincy have been integral to our nation’s progress”.

Dr. Asamoah stated, “This is the time to enhance our cultural and religious norms to achieve maximum economic growth and infrastructural development for all.”

Dr. Asamoah also highlighted the success of other nations that have prioritized their cultural and religious heritage, urging Ghana to follow suit.

The Ranking Member of the committee, Laadi Ayii Ayamba, MP for Pusiga Constituency, assured the public of the committee’s proactive approach.

She emphasized the importance of engaging with traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, and citizens to promote Ghanaian culture globally.

Madam Ayamba also celebrated Ghana’s unique religious diversity, where Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers coexist harmoniously.

She reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to preserving and strengthening this peaceful coexistence for future generations.
