The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte products, including the Tetra Pak (250ml) and the 330ml Pétillante canned variants, found on the Ghanaian market and on social media.

In a press statement FDA indicated that the products’ importer breached sections of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), namely Sections 97, 98, and 103, by failing to register the items with the FDA.

Consequently, the sale and distribution of these products are considered illegal.

The FDA also highlighted concerns about the products’ packaging and size, calling them deceptive and potentially hazardous.

Specifically, the packaging poses a risk of accidental alcohol ingestion by children, which could threaten their health and safety.

Consumers have been strongly advised against purchasing or consuming these products.
Retailers and wholesalers have also been ordered to cease distribution and return existing stock to designated locations, such as FDA offices or Cave and Garden Ghana Limited outlets.

The FDA assured the public of its commitment to protecting health and safety, noting that the importer has been sanctioned, and stringent regulatory measures are underway to ensure compliance.

Individuals are encouraged to report any sightings of these unregistered products through the FDA’s communication channels through www.fdaghana.gov.gh, 0551112224/5 and (Fda@fda.gov.gh)
