2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Stephen Appiah urges Black Stars to go all out against Madagascar

Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has urged the senior national team to go all out for victory in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against **Madagascar.

Ghana, aiming for a fifth World Cup appearance, will face the Barea at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium tonight. After a commanding 5-0 win against Chad last Friday, the Black Stars are looking to build on their momentum.

However, Appiah, who captained Ghana at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, has challenged the players to approach the game with focus and determination.

“You know that the game against Chad will be different from Madagascar because they have a different style of play and strengths, so it won’t be the same,” he said.

“So you must tune your minds towards the game—we are talking about the World Cup. Most of you were in Qatar, and after the tournament, you returned to your clubs as different players.”

He also highlighted how the 2006 World Cup boosted the careers of Ghanaian players, encouraging the squad to fight not just for themselves but for those playing in the Ghanaian league.

“We all experienced it in 2006. Even those who didn’t play, those on the bench, after the World Cup, they all secured contracts in Europe. So those playing in Europe must sacrifice for those in Ghana.

“We believe in you and know you guys will do it,” he added.

The highly anticipated match is set to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
