President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to upgrade the Asutsuare Training Camp into a state-of-the-art military training facility as part of efforts to bolster Ghana’s security preparedness.

The announcement was made during a ceremony on Friday, March 28, 2025, where the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General William Agyapong, and other security chiefs paid a courtesy call on the President.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening military infrastructure, President Mahama assured the security chiefs of increased budgetary allocations to facilitate the acquisition of advanced platforms and assets for enhanced operations.

He also encouraged the exploration of innovative financing methods to improve infrastructure, particularly troop accommodation.

“Your budgetary allocation will increase to enable you to secure new and additional platforms and assets to enhance your operations. I also ask you to explore innovative financing means to improve infrastructure and training, especially with respect to accommodation for your troops”.

The President emphasized his unwavering support for the military, highlighting the planned transformation of the Asutsuare Training Camp as a key step toward achieving a robust and modernized defense system.
