Identified as Dawuda Sumaila, the suspect was apprehended on April 9, 2025, through an intelligence-led operation.
He is alleged to have attacked a young man near a fuel tanker, an incident that was recorded and widely circulated on social media, drawing nationwide outrage.
The disturbing act took place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
In the video, Sumaila is seen violently assaulting the victim, sparking public calls for swift justice.
Sumaila, who serves as a tanker driver’s mate, is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
