The Ashanti Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have invited constituency leaders in Asante Mampong for deliberations following violent protests over the rumored nomination of Esther Dwomoh as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

On Thursday, April 10, 2025 aggrieved NDC supporters stormed the party’s office, vandalizing property and setting items ablaze.

The youth expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged nomination, insisting that one of the three shortlisted candidates Yakubu Issifu, Mohammed Kamil, or Imoro Iddrisu should be selected instead.

Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Baah Acheamfour, confirmed that the regional executives are working to address the concerns of the protesters.

“As we speak, the regional chairman has invited the party leaders in the constituency for some deliberation. Currently, we are in Accra at a NEC meeting, after which we will meet them and see how we can resolve this and other issues in some selected constituencies”.

He also urged calm among party supporters, emphasizing the need to respect the President’s decision-making process.

“We respect the decision of the president and the committee who voted for these aspirants, and we should respect that. If, under some circumstances, there are things you don’t understand with some of the decisions taken, you can come and seek clarity”.
