The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has urged artisans and the youth to view the National Apprenticeship Programme(NAP) not as a political tool, but as a nation-building initiative aimed at equipping young people with employable skills and promoting economic independence.

During a stakeholders engagement held under the auspices of the National Apprenticeship Programme, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and seriousness from all parties involved.

She noted that the programme, which is being rolled out as part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s flagship interventions, must yield visible results since it is funded by taxpayers’ money.

The MP stressed that involving the right stakeholders and connecting the people to the appropriate agencies is crucial to ensure the success of such initiatives.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings revealed that the apprenticeship programme is designed to not only provide training and stipends to selected individuals but also to support successful trainees with starter packs or job placements upon completion.

She further highlighted that data collection and proper onboarding of participants are essential to avoid resource wastage and ensure that those who undergo training benefit fully from the initiative.

She added that an online form has been developed to allow interested individuals to register and benefit from the programme.

For those unable to complete the registration online, she said an in-person assistance center will be operational at the constituency’s summit office next week.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings reaffirmed her commitment to bridging the gap between constituents and government agencies, adding that aligning national programmes with the needs of the people remains a top priority in her leadership.

Some artisans who were present expressed their joy about the programme, assuring that they would dedicate themselves to properly train the individuals placed in their care to ensure its success.

They expressed their gratitude to the government and the MP for giving them the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and build something for themselves.

They urged all artisans and apprentices to give their best efforts to make the initiative impactful.
