Access to quality healthcare remains a challenge for many rural farmers in Ghana, who often face limited medical facilities, long travel distances, and high healthcare costs. Recognizing this critical issue, Healthy Farmer, a Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC)-funded business, is leveraging telemedicine to provide farmers with prompt, affordable, and life-saving medical services.

Through its innovative telemedicine platform, Healthy Farmer connects rural farmers with qualified healthcare professionals, enabling remote consultations, diagnosis, and follow-ups. This solution ensures that farmers no longer have to endure long waits or travel miles to seek medical attention. Instead, they can receive expert healthcare services at their convenience, improving their overall well-being and productivity.

Co-founder of Healthy Farmer, Priscilla Dzampah, highlights the company’s mission: “Access to quality healthcare should not be a privilege but a right for all, including rural farmers. Through Healthy Farmer, we leverage telemedicine to bridge healthcare gaps, ensuring timely, affordable, and life-saving medical services for farmers.”

KIC’s commitment to Innovation within the Agricultural sector

Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) and Mastercard Foundation continue to play a crucial role in fostering businesses that address critical social and economic challenges. By providing funding, mentorship, and business development support, KIC empowers startups like Healthy Farmer to drive impactful change in Ghana’s agricultural sector, by supporting farmers access health care.

Through its investment in innovative solutions, KIC is ensuring that rural communities have access to improved social services while strengthening the overall agricultural ecosystem.

The Executive Director of KIC, Mr. Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, emphasized the importance of supporting agribusiness solutions that also enhance other sectors: “At KIC, we believe sustainable agribusiness goes beyond food production, but also ensuring the well-being of the farmers who make it possible. By supporting businesses like Healthy Farmer, we are investing in a healthier, more resilient farming community that can drive long-term agricultural transformation.”

Healthy Farmer reaffirms its commitment to making healthcare accessible to those who need it most. With continued support and partnerships, the initiative aims to expand its reach, ensuring that more farmers benefit from quality and timely healthcare solutions.
