A devastating accident on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway has left eight people dead and 11 others critically injured.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025 around 5:30pm at Nyumuase in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality of the Bono East Region.

The crash involved a mini bus with registration number AS 4360-23, carrying 19 passengers from Ejura to Yeji. The passengers, mainly cattle traders, were on their way home after a day’s work when tragedy struck.

According to a survivor, the driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle after hitting a pothole. The injured were rushed to Mathias Hospital in Yeji for treatment.

The Pru East District Chief Executive, Abdul-Nasir Dauda, attributed the accident to the poor state of the road and urged drivers to be cautious when using the stretch.

Meanwhile, Islamic burial rites for some of the deceased are scheduled for today, April 29, 2025.

This tragic event underscores the urgent need to address Ghana’s road safety and infrastructure challenges.
