Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), operators of Happy FM, YFM, and YTV, received guests from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The visit aims to deepen the relationship between SSNIT and the media conglomerate.

SSNIT’s delegation was warmly welcomed at the GMABC premises by key executives, including Happy 98.9FM’s Programs Manager, Kwabena Ampong; News Editor, Fati Shaibu-Ali; Head of Sales, George Amponsah and Marketing and Business Development Manager of E-Productions, Eunice Tornyi.

In her opening remarks, Deputy Manager in charge of Public Affairs, Jemimah Ofori, expressed optimism about the growing partnership between the two institutions, referencing GMABC’s consistent support for social issues in Ghana. “SSNIT is for all of us,” she said, reflecting the shared values between SSNIT and GMABC in promoting social wellbeing through meaningful dialogue and public education.

SSNIT’s Officer in Charge of Media, Dundas Whiglam, reaffirmed their commitment to addressing misconceptions surrounding SSNIT’s operations, particularly among employees and contributors. He highlighted cases where beneficiaries felt underpaid due to a lack of understanding of how the scheme works. “Many people see SSNIT as an investment, but SSNIT is rather an insurance scheme. You see, if you look at investment, you are putting money in there to probably buy a car or a house or to buy something big. That is different from SSNIT. For SSNIT, you are insuring your income so that in the time that you lose it, then SSNIT comes in,” he explained.

Elsie Attafua, Officer in Charge of Stakeholder engagement, also spoke on the need for better public understanding of SSNIT operations. She called for further partnership to help clarify key topics such as pension eligibility, distinction between the three tier pension Schemes and the strides SSNIT has made to improve service delivery.

Happy FM’s programs manager Kwabena Ampong, emphasized the importance of this partnership with SSNIT and looks forward to achieving nationwide impact through this partnership. “We look forward to embarking on great things together. Happy FM is already known for initiating insightful discussions on SSNIT’s operations and many other aspects of the scheme. So this is very good.”

The engagement between SSNIT and GMABC marks the beginning of a renewed and strengthened partnership that sets the tone for expanding SSNIT’s mission and message nationwide.
