WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has partnered with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to recruit 5,000 Fire Service Assistants under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This collaboration is designed to strengthen fire safety and emergency response efforts nationwide, while simultaneously offering employment opportunities to Ghana’s youth.

Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak, commended the initiative, noting its alignment with the Government’s 24-hour economy agenda, which seeks to expand economic activity, improve productivity, and create more jobs beyond the standard working hours.

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the Interior for initiating the recruitment module and urged him to explore similar collaborative programs with other agencies under the Ministry.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Malik Basintale, and the Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, both stressed the critical role of inter-agency cooperation in fulfilling their mandates.

They noted that the recruitment of 5,000 Fire Service Assistants will not only enhance the operational capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service but also contribute significantly to national development.

The initiative underscores the Government’s dedication to youth empowerment and to strengthening the Ghana National Fire Service, especially in response to the surge in fire incidents across the country. Both GNFS and YEA reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of this strategic partnership.
