The Africa Institute on Governance and Security has praised President John Dramani Mahama for introducing a groundbreaking Code of Conduct for public officials.
This initiative, launched on May 5, 2025, establishes key ethical guidelines for government employees, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.
Among the key provisions, the Code prohibits officials from accepting gifts and purchasing state assets, ensuring that duty bearers uphold professionalism and ethical standards in governance.
In a statement signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, the Institute emphasized that Mahama’s initiative will strengthen governance structures in Ghana and potentially serve as a model for broader continental reforms. It highlighted the importance of ethical leadership in fostering public trust and sustainable development.
The Institute further expressed confidence in the Code’s potential to reshape governance beyond Ghana, advocating for its adoption as a framework for transparent leadership across Africa.
