The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has appealed to residents of Ablekuma North to stay calm and accept the Electoral Commission’s (EC) official declaration of the 2024 parliamentary election results.

Months after the 2024 general elections, Ablekuma North remains without a Member of Parliament due to ongoing disputes over the parliamentary vote.

Addressing a press briefing held by the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, May 8, 2025, Madam Addy underscored the need to uphold and respect the democratic process.

“We all know that we are in a democracy and election is part of the democratic culture and system. And in every election there is a winner and a loser, there’s no middle ground, even in the general elections we have a winner and a loser. So in this election I want to urge the people of Ghana particularly the people of Ablekuma North to accept the results as declared by the Electoral Commission, this is the way to build democracy,” she said.

At the same event, the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, urged the EC to swiftly provide a clear timeline for concluding the delayed collation of results in the constituency. He cautioned that any further delays could undermine public trust and harm Ghana’s democratic reputation.
