The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has announced that it issued around 25,000 visas to Ghanaian applicants in 2024, out of a total of 61,000 applications received.

This information was shared during the Embassy’s Consular Media Day, held on Friday, May 9, 2025. The event aimed to shed light on the visa application process, introduce recent improvements to the visitor experience, and clarify current U.S. visa policies.

Addressing attendees, U.S. Consular General Elliot Fertik emphasized the Embassy’s dedication to maintaining a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly visa process for Ghanaians.

He issued a firm warning to Ghanaians, urging them to avoid illegal visa practices and unauthorized immigration. The Embassy emphasized that such actions could result in visa denials, revocations, or deportation.

Highlighting the U.S. government’s unwavering position on illegal immigration, Fertik reiterated the serious consequences of circumventing legal channels.

He also noted that the Embassy is actively working to enhance the visa application experience by focusing on transparency and improving customer service.
