Ghanaian comic actor Koo Fori, born Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has pleaded not guilty to allegations of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000.

He appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, after being arrested by the Accra Central Police on Friday, May 9. He faces charges of defrauding under false pretence.

The court granted him bail set at ₵320,000 with three sureties.

Police reports allege that the Efiewura star accepted the sum from a Ghanaian based in California under the guise of offering a genuine investment opportunity. However, he allegedly failed to deliver on the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.

The unnamed victim lodged a complaint with authorities after repeated failed attempts to recover the funds. Investigations also revealed that Koo Fori had ignored a court summon scheduled for April 17, 2025, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.

In response, Koo Fori’s Lawyer, Derrick Aboagye Asamoah, stated that his client has already refunded the $50,000 in question.
