The Minority in Parliament has formally petitioned three key investigative bodies, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate the controversial dollar gift involving Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi.

This move comes in response to President John Dramani Mahama’s declaration on May 14, 2025, stating that no further disciplinary action would be taken against Gyamfi.

The President accepted Gyamfi’s public apology, considering the matter resolved, while issuing a stern caution.

However, the Minority strongly opposes the President’s approach, arguing that an independent probe is necessary to determine whether Gyamfi’s actions violated public service ethics, anti-corruption statutes, or administrative protocols.

“Sammy Gyamfi’s conduct demands independent scrutiny and cannot be dismissed with an apology alone,” the Minority emphasized in their petition.

Leading the petition effort is Mumuni Mohammed Nurudeen, MP for Nalerigu/Gambaga, alongside Minority Whip Habib Iddrisu and Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed.

The petition calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the dollar gift, urging the three institutions to uncover the full facts and advise the President on any necessary actions regarding Gyamfi’s future in public office.
