The Vice President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and Member of the National House of Chiefs, Kuoru Abu Diaka Sukabe Ninia (V), has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the construction of critical road infrastructure in the region.

Speaking during President Mahama’s “Thank You” visit to the Upper West Region on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Jubilee Park in Wa, Kuoru Abu Diaka commended the President for appointing a youthful and dynamic Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing.

He praised Puozuing’s active engagement and support since taking office and urged other ministers to emulate his example.

Kuoru Abu Diaka highlighted the poor state of several major roads in the region, including the Saglihen–Tumu road, Kasapuoli–Tumu road, Wa–Sawla road, Techiman–Bamboi road, as well as roads leading to Jinapa and Nandom.

He noted that the deplorable conditions of these roads are significantly hampering travel, economic activity, and general productivity.

He also drew the President’s attention to the pressing needs in the region’s educational sector, particularly the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) and the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU). He explained that both institutions are grappling with inadequate infrastructure, including a shortage of lecture halls and student hostels, which is limiting their ability to expand enrollment and affecting both teaching and learning.

Kuoru Abu Diaka reminded the President that the people of the Upper West Region kept their promise by voting overwhelmingly for him in the December 2024 elections. In return, he appealed to President Mahama to honor their support by addressing the region’s critical infrastructure challenges, especially in road development and education.
