The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a warning about two unregistered alcoholic beverages, Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur and Jupiter 1990, after laboratory tests detected marijuana extracts in them.
The drinks were traced back to FAMUDE Catering Services, an unlicensed operation in the Ashanti Region.
Authorities swiftly shut down the facility, revoked its license, and handed the case over to the Suntresu District Police for further investigations.
Despite earlier enforcement efforts, reports in April 2025 indicated that Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur was still on sale in Koforidua, leading officials to uncover another illegal production site linked to the same illicit operation.
The FDA, in collaboration with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), continues to monitor the situation closely.
Officials urge the public to avoid these unsafe products and report any suspected distribution points.
