The Parliament of Ghana reconvenes today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, officially commencing the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament. This marks the end of the Easter recess, with Members of Parliament returning to engage in full legislative duties.

With the resumption, parliamentary business resumes in earnest, encompassing legislative debates, committee work, and deliberations on key national matters.

One of the major events scheduled for this session is the anticipated appearance of the Minister for Finance in August to present the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to the House.

Speaking ahead of the sitting, Second Deputy Majority Whip, Richard Acheampong, outlined the agenda for the session. He noted that ministers will be delivering statements detailing their achievements over the past three months and laying out their strategic plans for the coming quarter.

In preparation for the session, the Minority Caucus held a strategic retreat over the weekend to assess its performance and define its priorities moving forward.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed the caucus’s dedication to effective parliamentary oversight and expressed confidence in its readiness to lead in the next political era.
