In a significant move towards improving employment accessibility in Zongo communities, the Chairman of the Council of Zongo Chiefs and Chief of the Wangara Community in Greater Accra, Sadik Gimala, led a delegation of chiefs on a courtesy visit to the Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, on Tuesday, 27th May 2025.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, sought to formally introduce the council to the Minister and explore potential collaborations aimed at bridging the gap in job opportunities within Zongo communities.

Central to the discussions was the need for efficient dissemination of employment policies, ensuring that youth and job seekers within Zongo areas benefit from government programs.

Dr. Rashid Pelpuo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities, highlighting initiatives such as the Work Abroad program, which aims to connect qualified individuals with international job placements.

Acknowledging the existing employment challenges faced by people in Zongo communities, the Minister encouraged the chiefs to actively engage with relevant authorities to voice their concerns.

He assured them that their input would be instrumental in shaping future policies that prioritize marginalized communities.

The Council of Zongo Chiefs expressed optimism about the potential outcomes of the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships in enhancing economic empowerment.
