Former Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency and former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Eugene Antwi Boakye, has called for financial independence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), warning that the party risks collapse if it continues to rely on individual contributions.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with Happy FM’s Political Show, Epa Ho Daden with Bismark Brown, Boakye emphasized the need for structured financial investments, including shares, fixed deposits, and treasury bills, to ensure the party’s sustainability.

He criticized the current financial management, arguing that some elected officials lack creativity in fundraising, and even when funds are raised, accountability remains a challenge.

“You cannot tell me you’ve been in power for eight years, yet the party’s constituency has zero funds in its coffers to run its activities. What’s the use?” he questioned.

Boakye suggested that the party could raise funds by allowing dignitaries to join the electoral college and implementing more strategic financial mechanisms.

His remarks highlight growing concerns about the party’s financial stability as it prepares for future elections.
