Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has urged organizers of the FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival to create a bigger platform for visual artists from Ghana to exhibit their art at this year’s festival

Speaking at the media launch of the festival, Madam Houadjeto indicated that Ghana’s art sector is filled with massive potential and talents that could set Ghana on the world map and give Ghana a reputable spot on the global visual art scene.

As one who has toured different parts of the world, Madam Houadjeto proudly spoke of art pieces from Ghana as more thrilling and aesthetically pleasing compared to other art pieces admired in other parts of the world. “I believe that Ghana’s visual arts community has a lot of potential. I have travelled to many countries and their museums where they display their art pieces and when I see what they have done and I compare to what we have here in Ghana, Ghana carries more artistic impact than other countries.” she revealed.

She urged the organizers of the festival to add a masterclass for visual artists to the list of activities that are slated to take place within the period of the festival to educate these talents and enhance their skills to prepare them for a global audience. “As we celebrate Africa, I believe that a master class for our visual artists will be really great. I would want reputable members of the global visual arts community to come to Ghana within this period. There are some aspects of their talent that they would need to learn to help them because every work has its technical language so they may have the talent but they must also learn the technical language of their craft.”

FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival 2025 FESTAC AFRICA 2025 is an open invitation to every African country, every citizen of the continent, and the African Diaspora taking place from 21st to 27th September 2025 to celebrate Africa’s unity, heritage, and future. This year’s festival which is themed, Harnessing Health, Culture, Trade, Climate Change, Gender Equality, and Tourism for Sustainable Economic Growth, will feature a number of activities to celebrate Africa and uphold the continent’s rich cultural heritage.
