Russia warns U.S. against military intervention in Israel-Iran tensions

Russia has issued a strong warning to the United States, urging it to stay out of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

The Kremlin, reports say, called for restraint and condemned any plans for a military response that could further inflame the situation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova described potential U.S. involvement as “an extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable negative consequences.”

Earlier that day, President Trump offered neutral remarks on Washington’s position, stating that any decision on intervention was still under careful consideration.

Zakharova also expressed Russia’s deep concern for the safety of its personnel and infrastructure at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant—constructed with Russian assistance and currently undergoing expansion. More than 200 Russian workers are involved in building two additional reactors at the southern Iran facility.

As tensions mount, Russia’s nuclear agency Rosatom has already evacuated several dozen workers from the site. Its chief, Alexei Likhachev, cautioned that an Israeli strike on Bushehr could trigger a nuclear disaster comparable to the 1986 Chernobyl incident.

Zakharova further noted that Iran continues to honor its commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and is open to resuming dialogue with the U.S.—but only if Israel halts its offensive actions.
