The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has firmly denied allegations that its ongoing investigation into former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta is fueled by personal bias.
In a public statement shared via its official Facebook page, the OSP responded to remarks made by Dr. Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, who reportedly suggested the probe was motivated by a personal vendetta.
“The OSP wishes to place on record that its actions involving the former Finance Minister are based on stated allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences,” the notice emphasized.
Among the key allegations is abuse of office for profit, particularly in connection with a controversial multi-year contract awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).
The OSP also disclosed that Dr. Gyampo had reached out to the office during a legally sanctioned search being conducted by OSP officials and National Security personnel at the premises of SML.
While reiterating its openness to public scrutiny, the OSP issued a strong caution to public officials:
“Public officials must refrain from interfering—whether directly or through unfounded public statements with ongoing investigations.”
The office warned that such interference could seriously compromise Ghana’s fight against corruption.
