A majestic grand durbar is underway at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi today, Thursday, June 26, 2025, in honour of His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini.

The event, rich with Asante tradition and pageantry, has drawn chiefs, dignitaries, and enthusiastic citizens from across the region to pay homage to the visiting monarch.

King Mswati III, who arrived in Ghana on June 24, is being hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The highlight of his visit is today’s durbar, where the Asantehene sits in state as a vibrant display of culture, regalia, and unity unfolds around him.

On Wednesday, June 25, the Eswatini monarch was officially welcomed to the palace and taken on a tour of the Manhyia Museum.

He also addressed the National House of Chiefs and paid a visit to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

The royal itinerary continues beyond the durbar: On Friday, King Mswati III will tour the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), followed by a royal banquet at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall later in the evening.

On Saturday, he is scheduled to join Otumfuo Chancellor of KNUST for a university congregation, before departing for Accra later that day.

The celebration is not only a gesture of goodwill but also a powerful statement about pan-African unity, heritage, and diplomacy.
