The Tema Community 25 Lions Club marked Friday, June 27 as the dawn of a new chapter with the official installation of Lion Dr. Ralph Nii Okai Tettey-Amlalo as President for the 2025/2026 service year.
The installation ceremony, held at the prestigious Alisa Hotel – Tema, drew a significant number of Lions from across the district. The occasion not only marked the induction of a new Club President but also welcomed a fresh cabinet of club officers entrusted with the responsibility of developing and executing initiatives throughout the incoming service year.
In his acceptance speech, Lion Dr. Tettey-Amlalo shared reflections on his journey to leadership, crediting personal experiences for shaping his outlook and vision.
“To the District Cabinet, past presidents, and senior Lions — your example continues to light our path. And to all our guests and partners here tonight, your presence affirms that we do not walk this journey alone. We thank you for believing in what we do,” he said.
Speaking further in a close engagement, the newly installed President described the role as an opportunity to strengthen the club’s service delivery through more efficient and sustainable efforts. He announced a service year theme to guide the club’s direction and decisions:
“Rise to Lead, Reach to Serve, Strive for Excellence. This theme is a vision — a reminder that the best of who we are is yet to come.”
He emphasized that the office comes with a greater sense of responsibility which demands steering collective ideas into impactful outcomes.
Tema Community 25 Lions Club President’s Remarks on Flagship Project in Prampram
Among the top priorities for the new service year is the club’s flagship legacy project: the construction of the Prampram Eye Care Centre, which is currently in progress and awaiting roofing to advance to the next phase.
Lion Dr. Tettey-Amlalo revealed that plans for the project began as early as 2022, following a donation made by the club to the Prampram Polyclinic. During that visit, the poor state of the eye clinic facilities presented a clear need the club felt compelled to address.
“A lot of the activities we do are meant to be need-based driven. So we don’t just do activities for ticking the box and saying we’ve done it. There has to be a real need, and this is one such example that we have found. Our hearts are in it, and we want to do it,” he noted.
The eye care project mirrors the legacy of the club’s parent organization, Tema Lions Club, which built an eye clinic for the Tema General Hospital. The ongoing Prampram project reflects a commitment to replicating that impact, noting the Lions Clubs’ dedication to service and societal transformation.
Tema Community 25 Lions Club President Sets ‘Striving for Excellence’ as Service Year Goal
Lion Dr. Ralph Nii Okai Tettey-Amlalo’s leadership vision is centered on cultivating a culture of excellence within the Tema Community 25 Lions Club. He expressed that all club activities will be undertaken with a clear commitment to high standards.
This drive toward excellence, he said, is also a strategic approach to attract the necessary sponsorship and partnerships to expand the club’s reach and impact.
“The whole idea is we strive for excellence. We want to do what we need to do, but to be able to raise funds for some of the big projects we have in mind, you’ve got to go for the big guns,” he explained.
With a clear vision and strong backing from the club, Lion Dr. Tettey-Amlalo hopes to leave behind a lasting legacy.
“By the end of my tenure, what I desire to leave behind is a thirst for excellence — being able to do things and know that we can measure what we do, we can track what we do, and we can only improve and get better.”
Beyond the installation of officers, the event also doubled as a fundraiser, which successfully raised GHS 50,000 to cover the complete roofing and supply costs for the Prampram Eye Clinic project.
